There is a lot of content about there about picking your niche topic to start a website about. Now again, whether it is a smaller micro-niche site or a larger authority type site this will be pertinent. Today I want to take a look at creating content online. For the sake of making my point here. I will assume you’ve picked your topic, and I’m also going to assume that you’ve picked Green Tea as your niche topic because you’ve, done your research and just love the crap out of Green Tea.
Yes this is a small micro niche sites, that I have previously developed and since sold. Also I love green teat and drink it every morning.
After doing your research you’ve found Green Tea Health is a keyword with low competition and 480 global monthly searches and $2.56 Approximately CPC (Google Keyword Stats).
So your bought the domain, got your hosting sorted, set your site up with WordPress, and you go to put your first article up. So the big question right now for you, is what content do you put up…You’ve got a few options for content source here.
4 ways to generate content for your Website
Original Content
Which means you write the artifice yourself, meaning that you sit down and write out a minimum 300 words, preferably over 1000 words up to 1500 or 2000, on your topic. Write more if you want, but here’s the minimum limits and reasons why
300 is the minimum for Unique Article Wizard
500 is the minimum for Ezine Articles
500 in the minimum for Article Demon
1000 words or more is the seen as an in-depth article, up to 2000 to 3000 words your starting to write pillar type articles. Now the idea here with original content is you do the research, and you write about whatever the topic of the article will be.
Original Content with a twist
You can outsource your content writing to someone else like Text broker, Odesk or Freelancer. Basically you give them the idea of what you want your article written about and keywords that you want to use. They then write the article and you get to own the article and do what you want with it.
Sneaky content
You can go and buy bulk PLR articles. Now this can be problematic as there are thousands of other people buying the same articles and using them as content. This can be OK with some planning about what you will do with the PLR Article.
You can edit these articles and put your own voice to it. Creating content online is work no matter what you want to do.
Scrape content
This means going and stealing it from someone else’s site. I recommend that you NEVER, NEVER do this. As Google will penalize you for duplicate content, and it is completely unfair when it comes to stealing other peoples work.
Now the whole point of this post is to help you with your content. So here’s a few lessons I’ve learnt along the way.
The best way to generate content
Original is best – Google penalizes duplicate content. If its 100% unique you can pretty much do what you want with it.
Remember if it’s your passion it should be easy, to write 1000 or so words on your favorite topic. Google is at the stage where you need to structure your websites and content to be as fresh and unique as possible, and you need to be across a few strategies, like link building and social media to name just a few.
Whatever you do , make it your content, whatever the source.
What you don’t do
That means don’t just put up the same bland crap as everyone else, write with passion, actually try to give them the best possible advice about your topic to help them. Try to write for the reader as well don’t write for the search engines that just doesn’t work anymore, so don’t stuff your article with your keyword.
Last minute pro tip
One last tip make sure you proof read it. I am the worst for not doing it, and it ends up making your article look like crap.
So there you go, some tips and tricks for getting your content up on your niche site. If you worried about not being able to write, PLEASE DON’T, as my mum used to say practice makes perfect.
Even if you go an enroll in a basic writing course at your local college. Writing is really is one of those things that once you start you will get better at it. Especially if you want to create value on line, by creating content online.
